Testimonials

Kim Mackenzie.jpg

I had left school at 16 as I was struggling to cope with school due to dyslexia and with bullying. After school, I attended Inverness College and gained a National Qualification in Art, but I was not able to move on further with my life.

I attended Nansen Highland as one of the young adults to gain skills to help my independence, life skills and to gain more confidence in myself.

I moved to Glasgow, lived independently, studied Illustration, and successfully completed the course, this despite my former teachers thought I couldn’t do it. But I didn’t listen to them and I did it without help on my own.

I applied for a part-time admin position at to Nansen to help the place that helped me, then moved on to teaching art. Now I teach lots of things like reading and writing basic maths.

I have overcome my dyslexia to high degree, but it will always be a part of me. I use my understanding of my own issues and the different tricks I have learned.

I enjoy the time I spend with my son and do art when I am free.
